About the South Hampton Roads Mission Project

What is SHRMP?

Our Mission

The South Hampton Roads Mission Project (SHRMP) is a 7-day mission camp originated to conduct an intentional ministry in the urban communities of South Hampton Roads and in churches in search of revitalization. Our mission is simple; to glorify God by fulfilling His commission to us to reach others with the “Good News” of Jesus Christ and to provide training to His disciples so that they may accomplish this in their own communities.

Transforming lives and neighborhoods by sharing the love of Jesus

SHRMP exists to share the Good News of Jesus with kids and families. Our partners carry Vacation Bible School events into socially and economically disadvantaged neighborhoods in South Hampton Roads. We sing, teach, play, and love–all so our neighbors can know Him.

Who are the “SHRMPers”?

Our partners connect local churches with neighborhood missions. We are teens and adults who spend a week of Gospel ministry in disadvantaged communities across Southside Hampton Roads. SHRMP is a partnership of church groups—some local, some traveling, but all friends.

What's SHRMP Like?

SHRMP is a full week of mission work. We worship, train, and reach out on the weekend–then carry Bible Schools to as many as ten neighborhoods Monday to Friday. Most SHRMPers are housed at a local church during the project, all meals and materials are provided, and the cost is minimal.
